Everything Within Me

Everything within me… Haideri, Hussaini
I am… in every breath and every moment
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant

* * *

My life and death for me are but one and the same
I was drawn to them like a moth drawn to a flame
I did not care for my wishes, nor my own name
Everything that was mine, for this household became

I gave them everything… for a place on their wings
I am… patient, but for them I’m impatient
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant

* * *

I saw them as the crown upon my creation
And alone I boarded the ship of salvation
It set sail and within my contemplation
They became my every thought and every action

Salvation I boarded… and fate, it applauded
I am… in my smiles and my bereavement
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant

* * *

I saw, in two, divided, the sons of Adam
I saw Ali alone and the world against him
I saw in awe of Zahra, even Maryam
And in my veins I saw blood of Bani Hashim

I made a decision… Ali and his children
I am… where I stand on the Day of Judgement
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant

* * *

I breathed in their love whilst everyone else would drown
My service to them became, on my head, a crown
And never, not once, could anyone put me down
When I had Ali’s smile and Abbas’s frown

All in me they would see… Haideri, Abbasi
I am… because of them, always triumphant
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant

* * *

How many from the cradle, this house they have seen?
Some were born to them but adopted I had been
Some were Fatima’s sons, and for this they wore green
I wore black for I’m the son of Ummul Baneen

For Hussain, her children… and I am one of them
I am… to this house but a mere present
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant

* * *

A thorn, but with their love into a rose a grew
I had sins but they acted like they never knew
With their tales, their names into my heart they drew
Till every morning my love for them I’d renew

They never left my side… my comfort when I cried
I am… speechless if ever I am silent
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant

* * *

When it comes to the day I am fragile and old
I’ll tie a belt just so Hussain’s flag I can hold
In my last days if “you wasted your time” I’m told
I’ll say everything’s dust and only Ali’s gold

Haideri till I die… Hussain’s name in my eye
I am… till my last days and final moments
I am… nothing except Ahlulbayt’s servant
