Over My Father’s Body

Over my father’s body.. over my father’s body

* * *

Upon the bloodied sand in pain my tears fall
With me cries the stars, the sun, the moon and all
As I scream there’s no father to hear my call
The hearts of angels break for my tragedy

* * *

The spears pinned my father’s body to the ground
As I cry he doesn’t cry or make a sound
I stay here and to Heaven his heart is bound
He left me but I can’t part with his body

* * *

Like the rain falls the spears on my father fell
And beside his broken body now I dwell
With only the night left here, the night I tell
I tell it how I loved my father deeply

* * *

The people of the world have their eyes on me
A lonely, crying orphan is what they see
I wish the world would leave me and let me be
As I wonder lonely city to city

* * *

Upon my father even the rocks cry blood
And with them my eyes cry blood for my beloved
With our hands we bury him deep in the mud
And I wish the shroud upon him would be me
