All That Rises

Father all that rises must set… our days with the sunset bend
But tell me how a love like ours… can meet such a tragic end?
Love disappears… drowned in my tears

* * *

There exists a love… born before we’re born
Love for Mohammed… on our hearts is worn
It sleeps in our blood… if from it we’re torn
Left in your absence… forever we’d mourn

O’ father how can such a love… so entrenched within our blood
Be torn away from this same blood? … I watch it down my cheeks flood
Your love appears… drowned in my tears

* * *

I feel the sun set… deep within my heart
As if from my days… O’ father I part
Our love like a day… beautiful its start
And yet its sunset… tears this day apart
Our hearts were one O’ my father… today one half was stolen
And by your absence, the other… is left shattered and broken
My heart, it tears… drowned in my tears

* * *

You became the best… of all creation
And your absence has… broken a nation
But I swear, their grief… and lamentation
Does not equal mine… or my affliction

If my grief were poured onto skies… I’d see seven skies shatter
And in your absence O’ father… no sun or stars would matter
Creation hears… drowned in my tears

* * *

When I was little… left me, my mother
I had one parent… that was my father
If you left my sight… I’d would look further
If I’d not find you… this rose would wither

A rose planted upon this earth… searches for all it has known
The stem of those rose has been crushed… your absence upon it thrown
An orphan’s fears… downed in my tears

* * *

Whatever begins… ends eventually
And there are deaths in… every family
But none have had you… you touch beautifully
Let all die, just leave…. Mohammed only

I wish the world would break in two… and take away everything
For it would be a better place… if only you were living
Born are my fears… drowned in my tears

* * *

I cry out a scream… come back Mohammed
For I see fire… to our house is led
And I see ashes… covering my head
From a nail’s pierce… I see blood has bled

I feel torture none have felt… and toward your grave I turn
Along with my door and my heart… I watch my love for you burn
The fire nears… drowned in my tears
