The Moon Descends

The sky to water bends… the moon here it descends
Upon the Earth descends the moon, and it looks at the river
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

On that day the river saw a miracle
As the moon descended upon the battle
He’d see mothers, their thirsty children cradle
They would cry “thirst” if to cry they were able

These children were the stars… the moon upon them stares
They cannot speak from such a thirst, the moon glows red in anger
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

I’m the moon and I saw standing the princess
In her royal eye I saw drawn her distress
She gazed at me as the peak of selflessness
The impatience of her thirst, her eyes confess

I saw thirst within her… I turned to the river
I’m the father of all zeal, and thirsty is my sister
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

I am the moon and I saw alone, the sun
Begging for water, surrounded him children
He tells them, O’ children helpless don’t become
Be patient with your thirst as soon death shall come

When I heard the word death… I then swallowed my breath
Every eye turned toward the flag, and turned toward its bearer
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

Today the moon descends upon this desert
Left enraged by every child’s discomfort
O’ river my throne in the sky I’ll desert
To kneel to each child and soothe their thirst

River, let your heart sink… from my hands they shall drink
Let them sip from my hands or you’ll sip from the sword of Haider
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

The enemy watches the moon by the tents
And a promise to the stars, the moon presents
For him to collect water, the sun consents
Every enemy’s mother for them laments

They know they’ll meet their end… when the moon, the sun sends
And charges toward them the moon, screaming out all his valour
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

Charges the moon, flashes from his sword thunder
Either they bleed or from his sword they scatter
It’s the moon in battle or it is Haider
The red sea parts for the moon in Karbala

Just to run for the moon… they jump into their tombs
Beneath the ground, they hear his voice, no lightning, only thunder
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

Beside the river the moon, alone, stands tall
Each drop of water its gravity would pull
If for the return of its water it calls
Abbas won’t take a little, he’ll take it all

The river shakes in fear… from it, its water tears
Just as death calls those children’s names, I came to hear your despair
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water

* * *

The moon cries out and his cry shakes the battle
Death runs to him and with death the moon wrestles
But death deceives him and his hands it grapples
And with his flag and water, the moon topples

No-one for the moon cares… the stars for him despair
Of a failed promise, this dying moon is the carrier
I’ve torn the skies to come to you, and bring those children water
