Abbas… you’re a part of me
Abbas… why would you leave me?

Brother I woke from a dream… where from me you were absent
I called your name, no answer… nor did rest with me your scent
Yet when I woke from this dream… my eyes saw what I had dreamt
Far from me I saw your flag… and empty I found your tent
Abbas… my dreams they haunt me
Abbas… why did you leave me?
* * *
Brother in my dream I felt… upon my back the world’s weight
I called out your name in pain… for relief still I await
What happened to once a time… when for your hand I would wait
You’d rest your back against mine… together we’d bare its weight
Abbas… you’d bare pain for me
Abbas… you’re a part of me
* * *
Brother in my dream, my eyes… they searched in grief for your face
When not filled by your beauty… tears of sorrow filled your place
I thought maybe if I cried… you’d answer with an embrace
I thought you would wipe my tears… yet of your hand, not a trace
Abbas… wipe my tears for me
Abbas… you’re a part of me
* * *
In this dream I called your name… brought me back your name the wind
I rode out upon my horse… toward the army of Hind
I asked the moon where you were… an evil smile it grinned
It showed me your severed hands… your body on the dust pinned
Abbas… this sight destroyed me
Abbas… you’re a part of me
* * *
I held you within my arms… melted around me this dream
My heart, a horde of arrows… pinned against you it would seem
Tortured my ears by your words… “brother, my failure redeem”
Your sweetness O’ my beloved… it a sin I’d never deem
Abbas… don’t say forgive me
Abbas… you’re a part of me
* * *
In my eyes O’ my beloved… I saw you in your blood drenched
I asked you, gaze in my eyes… your handless arms my hands clenched
And I saw my brother’s tongue… and a thirst still left unquenched
I knew he remembered me…. “not till Hussain’s thirst is quenched”
Abbas… your thirst before me
Abbas… you’re a part of me
