A Jafari

Whatever I was born… when upon my grave they mourn… I’ll die a Jafari
Turbah placed beneath my tongue… awaiting my salvation… I’ll die Jafari

There’s a reason on this day Sadiq’s mother faced delight
Between Sadiq and Muhammad is a pillar of light
Muhammad’s message was cemented by the ink he’d write
Islam’s greatest scholar fought for and defended Ali’s right

The teacher of madhhabs… said the striker of Marhab… was meant to lead the way
But we have not forgotten… awaiting my salvation… I’ll die Jafari

Imam Sadiq’s tongue was not of flesh, rather it was gold
This is the tongue that built the kingdom of Ahmed’s household
They called Sadiq just a scholar, when angles to him bowed
The four Imams of our brothers onto his staff keep hold

Imams of other schools… scientists, chemists, them all… all behind him would pray
I cling to Sadiq’s Islam… awaiting my salvation… I’ll die Jafari

After Muhammad, there is no truth for me but Ali
Time and time again, Allah chose him, out of his mercy
Don’t ask: ‘why Ali’, ask: ‘to follow him, am I worthy?’
Verily upon his back, Ali carries Judgement Day

Seven Heavens and Hell.. and the souls of all people… are his weight to carry
For loving him means Heaven… awaiting my salvation… I’ll die Jafari

Whoever my tongue grows up praising, however I’m raised
As a follower of Haidera my soul shall be raised
Ali’s virtues can be ignored but cannot be erased
Allah cannot be praised properly till Ali is praised

When to God I’m brought forth… I’ll say my first and not fourth… is Muhammad’s Ali
I’ll call out for my Imam… awaiting my salvation… I’ll die Jafari

I let go of all that I had and held onto Wilayah
My lungs yearn to breathe not air, but the dust of Karbala
And my only concern is the pleasure of Fatima
Verily God is angered by whoever angers her

I’m not bound to people… hearing Fatima’s wail… is enough to sway me
Yearning her intercession… awaiting my salvation… I’ll die Jafari

When I am buried and into the Earth I descend
And with the creatures of the earth my flesh and bone contend
I’ll cry out, where are you, O’ Allah’s beginning and end
And to Najaf and to Ali my hand I shall extend

My heart and soul and limbs… will cry out yearning for him…my faith will never sway
I’m now O’ Abel Hassan… … awaiting my salvation… I’ll die Jafari
