Today in Baqee’

Today in Baqee’ they’re crying… help us Mehdi
And with them Ali is crying… help us Mehdi
All their graves were shattered… Mehdi raise your banner… help us Mehdi

Why has the whole world forgotten… that all these graves still lie broken
Haider’s crying, within these graves… lie his dead wife and his children
Why does only he remember… in chains by his grief he’s taken
He sits beside this torn graveyard… with dead bodies in front him

Without graves bodies are helpless… who will fix them
All they have with them is the dust… who will fix them
So by your Creator… Mehdi raise your banner… help us Mehdi

Another joins this torn graveyard… with no gravestone to show his name
And so here lies Imam Sadiq… buried with his tears and his pain
With him came his poisoned liver… and his shattered heart also came
With our two hands we buried him… and with two hands they broke his grave

Only Mehdi cries beside him… upon this night
Whilst we are still looking for him… upon this night
As you cry for Jafar… Mehdi raise your banner… help us Mehdi

We learn from you O’ al-Sadiq… to have patience is what you teach
We stand firm against our enemies… and hatred is what they all preach
When will we stand beside your grave… why are you so far from our reach
When will we cry upon your shrine… and our desires we beseech

In our millions we’ll march to you… O’ al-Sadiq
And next to your shrine we’ll mourn you… O’ al-Sadiq
This is our desire…Mehdi raise your banner… help us Mehdi

* * *

Why do they all hate Ahlul-Bayt… that they would destroy all their graves
And leave Zahra’s lovers crying… to visit her is what they crave
Now she lies with her broken rib… our dear mother who is so brave
In tears she lies and awaits us… as we search for her grave today

This is not the end O’ Mother… so please don’t cry
We shall keep searching forever… so please don’t cry
And for you Fatima… Mehdi raise your banner… help us Mehdi

* * *

These bodies’ homes are only dust… Mehdi return O’ our saviour
Your promise lasted since Hussain… by Shimr his head was severed
Hussain once also had no grave… but we built it in Karbala
So come and rebuild Baqee3… this promise always remember

First Baqee’ and then Samarra… when will it end
How long till it’ll be Karbala… when will it end
Let that happen never… Mehdi raise your banner… when will it end
